Candace Young, Ph.D., is a psychologist and psychoanalyst with a private practice of individual psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, and couples therapy, as well as clinical supervision for mental health professionals. Her practice is located in downtown Portland, Oregon, and is currently operating on a virtual basis with no in-person appointments.
She has been a psychologist for over 40 years since completing her Ph.D. at Washington University in St. Louis. She was trained initially as a child clinical psychologist and had her internship at Boston Children's Hospital. Thereafter she completed the psychotherapy training program at the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute, where she also served as the Associate Director of the Child Development Project. She completed her psychoanalytic training at Northwest Center for Psychoanalysis in Portland.
For the past twenty years her primary focus has been intensive psychoanalytic psychotherapy with adults. She also maintains a small child clinical practice.
Dr. Young is on the faculty of the Oregon Psychoanalytic Institute as well as the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis in Los Angeles.
